10 Things you MUST include in your Website's Home Page for Higher Conversions

Your website’s home page isn’t just a digital welcome mat; it’s your first chance to turn visitors into clients. A beautifully designed home page is great, but if it doesn’t inspire action, it’s not doing its job.

Don't get me wrong, first impressions do count, so you need to find the balance between aesthetics and content. To help, here are 10 things you must include that will elevate your home page and boost its conversion power.

10 things you must have on your website's home page

𖤓 1. A clear, compelling message

Your headline should instantly communicate what you do and who you serve. Keep it concise and benefit-focused.

Example: Empowering Small Business Owners with Memorable Branding Solutions.

𖤓 2. A supporting headline

Use this space to expand on your headline, providing clarity and emphasising how you solve your audience’s specific problem.

𖤓 3. Strong Call-to-Actions (CTAs)

Guide visitors with clear, action-oriented CTAs. Make them specific and impactful, like:

  • "Schedule Your Free Strategy Call"

  • "Download Your Free Brand Guide"

𖤓 4. An audience focused introduction

Show visitors you understand their challenges. Speak directly to their needs and position your brand as the solution.

𖤓 5. Testimonials = Social Proof

Build trust by highlighting authentic client feedback. Include short, specific, and authentic quotes from happy clients. Focus on results they achieved by working with you or the transformation they experienced. A simple formula to follow is to send this to your clients when requesting a testimonial:

  • Before: What challenges were you facing before [trying my product / working together]?

  • After: How did [my product / service] solve it?

𖤓 6. High quality imagery and elements

Invest in a professional photography session or custom graphics that reflect your brand’s personality. Ensure they enhance the message, not distract from it.

Canva has some amazing free images and elements you can use, all you need is to use the right keywords when searching! Check this article from the Social Boutique which has a Canva Keyword Cheat-Sheet.

𖤓 7. A value driven offer, aka Freebie

Capture leads by offering a free resource, such as an e-book or checklist, that addresses a key pain point for your audience in ex-change for their First Name and email address. This not only engages visitors, but it will also help you build your subscriber's list.

𖤓 8. Intuitive, transparent navigation

Simplify the user journey. Ensure visitors can easily find essential pages, such as services, about, and contact information. A menu that's hidden away or in some unlogic position will make visitor's frustrated and I guarantee you they won't hang around for long. Also, there is a huge controversy around this topic, but including your prices is a must for me - it shows transparency and helps build trust.

𖤓 9. Brand consistency

Let your brand’s unique voice shine through in the copy and visuals. This helps build connection and trust with your audience. Stick to your colour pallet, and ensure your imagery match your brand's vibe.

𖤓 10. Don't forget the mobile view

More than half of website traffic comes from mobile devices. Ensure your home page is responsive, fast-loading, and user-friendly across all devices. If you are designing on a desktop view, keep checking how that design translates into the mobile view and make adjustments.

Creating a home page that converts isn’t about stuffing it with features; it’s about thoughtful design and strategic messaging that resonates with your ideal audience. By applying these 10 things you must have on your website's home page you will be on the right path to achieve higher conversions.
